Assessment Programs Promotion Assessment Program For Deck Officers


This Promotion Assessment Program for Deck Officers is designed to evaluate the competencies and readiness of respective officers for promotion through a comprehensive assessment process. The program includes the following key components:


  • Psychometric Tests: This segment comprises an Ability Profiling Test to measure cognitive abilities and an IPIP-NEO test to assess personality dimensions. These tests are essential in determining an officer's aptitude and psychological alignment for the role they are being considered for.
  •  Navigation Simulation Assessment: This assessment challenges officers with scenarios that test both their technical navigation skills and soft skills, such as leadership and decision-making. It involves the use of full-mission ship handling simulator to create realistic scenarios where officers must demonstrate their ability to handle navigation and bridge operations, as well as their ability to manage tasks, lead their team, and make decisions under pressure.
  •  De-briefing and Interview: Conducted by a Registered Psychologist and a Technical Subject Matter Expert, this phase involves a comprehensive review of the officer's performance in the simulation. 

This program ensures a thorough and fair assessment of officer's abilities, ensuring a well-rounded evaluation of their potential for promotion.
