Engine Room Simulator Courses MEGI Engine Operation and Troubleshooting


The course is intended for both operational and management level engine officers involved in the operation of ME-GI Engines. It essentially deals with the principles, design, operation, and troubleshooting of ME-GI Engine.

The training is essentially a practical course and consists of simulator exercises structured around the operation of ME-GI Engines using electronic engine simulator.

COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
The course aims to provide applied knowledge and practical understanding of the principles, design, operation, and troubleshooting of ME-GI Engine, enabling participants to gain technical knowledge on the safe & efficient operation of the engine and rectify common operational problems in the engine control system.

Those who shall successfully complete the course should be able to:

  • explain the operating principles of the ME-GI Dual Fuel engine and the engine control system
  • describe the functional mechanism of ancillary equipment such as control systems, hydraulic power supply systems, filters, pumps, and valves
  • demonstrate practical understanding of the safe and efficient operation of the ME-GI-DF engine including the changeover process from MDO to Gas Fuel (HICOM, HIVAR, and PRS)
  • identify and rectify common operational problems

COVERAGE / PROGRAM FOCUS:
The course deals with the following training areas:

  1. Introductory Topic: Dual Fuel Engines and the Main Engine
  2. Operating Principles, Mechanisms and Ancillary Equipment
  3. ME-GI Engine Operation and Fuel Changeover Process
  4. Fault-finding & Troubleshooting

Entry Requirement / Target Group:

Entry to the course is open to all engine officers who intend to gain and/or improve their knowledge and understanding on the operation of ME-GI engine.
