Bridge Simulator Courses Ice Navigation
This course provides the necessary
knowledge to navigate and operate safely in polar waters in accordance with
STCW requirement IMO Polar Code / STCW Reg V/4. The training aims to prepare
qualified deck officers for operations in polar regions by covering different
ice types, maneuvering in ice and voyage planning. The simulator exercises shall
be conducted using Full-Mission Bridge Simulator to practice maneuvering skills
in ice in a safe environment.
COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
The course aim to enable participants to gain practical
understanding of the unique environment of the ice-covered waters and advance
ship handling in ice areas thru simulation.

with the following subject and training areas:
- Terminologies and Definitions
- Ice Types, Detection and Characteristics
- Vessel Performance in Ice and Low Air
Temperature.
- Preparation for Entering into Ice Areas.
- Passage Planning for Ice Navigation & Reporting Procedures
- Navigation: Ship Handling and Maneuvering
in Ice-Covered Waters
