This e-learning course is intended for all officers and crew onboard ships. It is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of MARPOL Annex V – Prevention of Pollution by Garbage from Ships and waste management techniques and garbage handling procedures onboard ships.

COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
After successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Recognize the different kinds of garbage that are discharged from ships, and their impact on the marine environment
  • Recognize the purpose, application, and exceptions of MARPOL Annex V
  • Familiarize with the regulations for the prevention of pollution by garbage from ships under MARPOL Annex V
  • Identify the requirements for the implementation of MARPOL Annex V
  • Familiarize with the regulations on verification, in compliance with the provisions of MARPOL Annex V
  • Identify the waste management techniques and garbage handling procedures onboard ships
