Career Assessment Program (CAP) is a pre-employment or pre-promotion assessment program intended for all Deck and Engine Officers both in the operational or management level positions. Assessment items, tasks and scenarios are well-designed & structured to evaluate candidate’s technical know-how and aptitude in the various areas of being a deck and an engine officer on board in accordance with the associated KUP of the STCW Code
To evaluate candidate’s technical know-how and aptitude in the various areas of being a deck and an engine officer on board in accordance with the associated KUP of the STCW Code:
- Deck Officer – Operational Level (STCW Code, Table A-II/I)
- Deck Officer – Management Level (STCW Code, Table A-II/2)
- Engine Officer – Operational Level (STCW Code, Table A-III/I)
- Engine Officer – Management Level (STCW
Code, Table A-III/2)
Further, the program may also be used to
measure the competence of existing personnel from the Deck and Engine
Department to determine training needs, as well as for company’s crew
profiling.
ASSESSMENT COVERAGE:
This assessment program
consists of the following modules:
A. ABILITY PROFILING PROGRAM (APRO) TEST
The APRO is a computer-based psychometric
assessment program developed to be used as a support tool during recruitment of
seafarers and the screening of candidates for maritime studies. The test is an
aid to identify the risk behavior of a candidate and to verify his/her
development potential.
B. NTC Evaluation System for Seafarer (NTC-ESS)
The NTC-ESS is an online assessment tool used to evaluate the knowledge of seafarers as part of recruitment and promotion process, and to identify needs for future training.
The purpose of this test is to assess the
basic knowledge of seafarers and see their suitability for a particular job or
position.
C. THEORETICAL ASSESSMENT
The theoretical assessment is administered
using paper-based format (through questionnaires and answer sheets).
D. SIMULATOR-BASED ASSESSMENT
Conducted using Full-Mission Bridge /
Engine Simulator
E. INTERVIEW ASSESSMENT
Interview / oral test to assess the
candidate’s capacity relevant to specific rank/position
Entry Requirement / Target Group:
TARGET CLIENTS
This assessment module is open to all Deck and Engine
Officers intending to be evaluated in the corresponding capacity/position –
based on competency level.
NOTE/ADVICE
It is highly essential that candidates have initiated
review efforts and all other necessary preparations before taking the
assessment/examination.
