Basic Training for Service on Ships Subject to the IGF Code (Methanol Fuel)
This course is intended for all seafarers responsible for designated safety duties associated with the care, use or in emergency response to fuel onboard ship subject to the IGF Code.
In compliance with Regulation V/3, Paragraph 5 of the STCW Convention, this course aligns with the provisions of Section A-V/3, Paragraph 1. It addresses the mandatory competencies, along with the essential knowledge, understanding, and proficiencies detailed in Table A-V/3-1 of the STCW Code. The course particularly focuses on their practical application aboard Methanol-Fueled Vessels.
Further, the course incorporates the safety provisions outlined in the MSC.1/Circ.1621- Interim Guidelines for the Safety of Ships Using Methyl/Ethyl Alcohol as Fuel.
This course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for basic training for service on ships subject to the IGF Code, in accordance with provisions of Section A-V/3 Paragraph 1, Table A-V/3-1 of the STCW Code, as amended.
- Contribute to the safe operation of a ship subject to the IGF Code
- Take precautions to prevent hazards on a ship subject to the IGF Code
- Apply occupational health and safety precautions and measures
- Carry out firefighting operations on a ship subject to the IGF Code
- Respond to emergencies
- Take precautions to prevent pollution of the environment from the release of fuels found on ships subject to the IGF Code
