Course Aims & Objectives:

This course is intended for management level engine officers. The training is essentially a practical course and consists of a series of exercises structured around the operation of the machinery of a modern merchant ship suitable for management level functions, using an approved simulator.

The course is based on IMO Model Course 2.07 and covers training using an engine-room simulator specified as one method of demonstrating competence in Column 3 of Tables A-III/2 of the STCW Code.

Entry Requirement / Target Group:

ENTRY REQUIREMENT / TARGET GROUP: Entry to the course is open to engine officers who intend to improve their knowledge and understanding of the operation of the machinery of a modern merchant ship suitable for management level functions.

Course Learning/s:

Emphasis of lessons & instruction shall deal with the following areas:

1. Engine-Room Simulator Familiarization

2. Plan and Schedule Operations

3. Operation, Surveillance, Performance Assessment and Maintaining Safety of Propulsion Plant and Auxiliary Machinery

4. Manage Operation of Electrical and Electronic Control Equipment

5. Detect and Identify the Cause of Machinery Malfunctions and Correct Faults
