This course is intended for Chief Engineers. It is designed to provide enhancement training to further develop and reinforce their know-how and skills in maintenance and repair, trouble-shooting, maneuvering practices and emergency preparedness in view of compliance with standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
Integrated in the course program is the Personality Profiling (using NEO Personality Inventory 3) and assessments of Technical & Soft Skills (using Simulator) and Behavioral Attributes with the participation of Psychologist.
Course Aims & Objectives:
The course aims to enable participants to acquire and further develop their technical skills and behavioral aptitude in safe operation and maintenance of engine machineries and conduct standard operating procedures in normal and emergency situations, in compliance with good marine engineering practices and considering the company specifics and guidelines.
Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:
- apply the key rules in standard operating procedures
- demonstrate the essentials principles of engineering practices, including application of the engine resource management principles
- practice methods of maintaining machineries when maneuvering and while at sea
- dramatize the Master-Chief engineer exchange of information, relevant to the safe passage of the vessel
- apply essential guidelines and recommendations to safely conduct emergency maneuvering on local side and ECR side as well
- discuss various accident/incident reports involving automation failure and malfunction cases including ways and means to prevent such incidents
- demonstrate safe engineering watch in various traffic cases & operational scenarios and practice such as power failure, engine failure, and others.

Method:
The conduct of the course delivery primarily employs lecture-presentation, case discussion, and simulation exercises.
