Electro-Technical Rating Structured Training Program
NTC has designed the Electro-Technical Rating Structured Training Program approved by Norwegian Maritime Authority to prescribe the procedures and ensure full compliance with the requirements of STCW Chapter III, Regulation III/7 for mandatory minimum requirements for assessment and certification of electro-technical ratings serving on a sea going ship powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW propulsion power or more.
This program deals with the training on specific skills and competence for the acquisition of required knowledge, understanding and proficiency leading towards certification as Electro-Technical Rating (Rating) in accordance with Regulation III/7, Section A-III/7 and Table A-III/7 of the STCW ’78 Convention, as amended. It has a total of 299 minimum training hours.
In addition, participants are required to complete the mandatory seagoing service under Regulation III/7, based on the following: Not less than six (6) months of approved seagoing service, in the relevant capacity in the engine department, which shall be evidenced by: Seafarer’s Identification and Record Book and Certificate of seagoing service from the company.
Upon successful completion of this training program, the participants are expected to have gained the knowledge, understanding and proficiency needed to perform, at the support level, the tasks, duties and responsibilities relating to Electrical, Electronic and Control Engineering at the Support Level; Maintenance and Repair at the support level; and Controlling the Operation of the Ship and Care for Persons on Board at the Support Level.
III. Training Certificate:
- A participant may complete this training program in modules. After successful completion of all the eight (8) modules of this training program, a Certificate of Completion (COP) shall be issued by Norwegian Maritime Authority.
- Certificate of Proficiency for Electro Technical Ratings shall have no expiration.
