Objectives of the Program

1. To provide a steady supply of qualified cadets motivated to meet the standards of modern shipping;

2. To establish competence base training and skills development program that can address the immediate demands of clients and Maritime Industry, in general;

3. To narrow the training gap between  4 years BSMT/ BSME program and the Associate MT/ME Program, thru industry base training modules;

4. To provide client centered cadet resource management program for the  supply of future manpower needs of the Principal;

 

Entry criteria

The candidate must be 19 - 25 years old, male, single, not less than 163 cm in height and has completed three (3) years Maritime Education in any of the CHED accredited maritime schools, naturally born Filipino Citizen, physically and mentally fit, and of good moral character with no derogatory records.

The candidate must pass the Ability Profile Test (APRO), English Proficiency Test, NTC-M Technical Exam Test and an Oral interview conducted by NTC-M.

 

Program Structure and Content

Phase 1:

Screening and Selection – NTC-M will screen, select and test all candidates. They must meet the entry requirements and standards, including medical examination. 

Phase 2:

Bridging Program – This phase is about 12 weeks residential training at NTC-M and will focus on the practical preparation for shipboard training, including practical skills development, character reformation and training gap analysis.

Phase 3:

Shipboard Training – This is twelve months (12) sea time - on-the-job shipboard training program on board Principals’ vessels.  A cadet will follow a structured shipboard training program developed and monitored by NTC-M.

Phase 4:

Licensure Examination – 12 months certificated shipboard training is required for this phase.  NTC-M will assist to refer them to review centers.

Phase 5:

Upgrading Program – will be 1-2 months and will focus on courses that the Principals will recommend or tailor-made for the company and officers.
